Although several weeks had passed since her anatomy scan appointment, Marley couldn’t shake her disappointment over how her pregnancy was revealed to Clint’s mother. She allowed herself to grieve the loss of control, but couldn’t seem to pull herself from the anxiety and sadness the whole situation caused. Sensing he needed to do something to help, Wyatt called Marley to see if she was free over the upcoming weekend. He had a surprise planned to cheer her up, and although she really just wanted to crawl under her covers for the remainder of her pregnancy, she made herself available out of pure curiosity.

“Hey! Are you ready for our day of fun adventures?” Wyatt asked Marley after picking her up early that Saturday morning.

“I was looking forward to wallowing for a bit more,” she replied, adding, “though I really am curious about what you have planned.”

“Well, you’ll just have to wait a few more minutes to find out,” Wyatt smiled devilishly. “Do you feel like filling me in on how everything has been going with Yvette while we make our way to our destination?”

“Well, I feel like I have to say this: you were right. I should have told her first. She has continued to be so supportive and is genuinely excited about the baby. It feels so much better having her know.” Marley answered.

“That’s amazing Mar. I’m really happy that you have someone from Clint’s family to share with your daughter.” he replied.

As they drove downtown, Wyatt couldn’t help but laugh at the inquisitive looks Marley kept making at him.

“Alright, we’re here.” Wyatt announced just a few moments later as he turned on his blinker.

“A baby boutique?” Marley was truly stunned. She had run through nearly every scenario she could come up with, and this hadn’t even crossed her mind.

“Well, I know you’ve been wanting to get a few things finalized for the baby, and I thought maybe seeing everything in person would help.”

“That is so incredibly thoughtful, Wyatt. Thank you.” Marley was so excited she was nearly bouncing in her seat. Although she was nearing the end of her second trimester, Marley hadn’t gathered up the courage to shop in a baby boutique before. She could only imagine the amount of damage she could do to her bank account once inside.

One step inside the store and Marley’s heart was set to explode with joy. They were immediately greeted by an associate who gave them the layout of the store and handed them a brochure filled with coupons.

“Are you wanting to start a registry today?” she asked, looking from Marley to Wyatt.

“Oh, I don’t think that will be necessary,” Marley said.

“Okay, well, I will just let you know that it only takes a minute to sign up. You can just take a scanner around the store with you and when you find something you like, you just scan the bar code and it will upload to your registry. It’s perfect for people who will be looking to get you a gift to celebrate your little one.
